I am so glad I found Liam and this gym! I've been doing 1:1 training with Liam for about a year now, and you can tell how much he loves what he does and truly cares about the people he works with. Liam has so much knowledge about training, and offers different variations of exercises that you can also do at home. We switch up the workout routine every 4 weeks, which I appreciate as it allows me to try new exercises and also come back to the old ones to see how much I've progressed. Liam ensures you have the right form while doing the exercises, always checks in on how you're feeling after a session, and most importantly ensures you are having fun and enjoying the workouts. He introduced me to boxing and we've incorporated it into our weekly routine, something I never knew I'd be into! I haven't tried the group classes yet but that's next on my list, as they look like they are a lot of fun and the other trainer, Ed, seems great as well. I definitely recommend this gym to anyone looking for a great place to work out that also feels like a community.

Where is your Oakland personal training studio located?
We’re at 985 3rd St in the Jack London Square neighborhood of West Oakland — easy street parking, two blocks from the 12th St BART station. Most clients drive in from across the East Bay — Alameda, Berkeley, Emeryville, and Piedmont.
Do you train clients outside of Oakland?
Yes. While our studio is on 3rd Street, we regularly coach clients from Alameda, Berkeley, Emeryville, Piedmont, Richmond, San Leandro, and the rest of the East Bay. Several clients drive across the Bay Bridge because there isn’t a comparable training studio in their neighborhood.
What makes Impact Fitness different from other Oakland gyms?

What happens in my first free session?
Your free intro is a 50-minute movement assessment with one of our coaches. We screen for pain points, mobility limits, and strength baseline — then we walk you through a personalized starting program. No high-pressure sales pitch. Just bring water and wear what you’d train in.
