Is all it takes for most of our clients to report feeling noticeably steadier on their feet. Based on client-reported results.

A real session, unscripted

It looks calmer than you might expect — controlled, supported, and built around movements that carry straight into daily life.

Margarita, 71, started strength training on her daughter’s recommendation. Today she’s the strongest she’s ever been — and steadier on the Berkeley hills.

Strength you’ll feel in everyday life

What you gain from consistent, joint-friendly strength work.

01

Better balance

Noticeably steadier when walking, standing on one leg, or taking the stairs. Real-world confidence on uneven ground.

02

Easier movement

Get up from the floor, a low chair, or the car without strain. The movements that felt hard become automatic again.

03

Less pain

Reduced knee, hip, and back discomfort during daily activities — strength that protects your joints instead of grinding them.

04

Real independence

Carry the groceries. Walk the hills. Get on the floor to play with grandkids. Live your life without negotiating around your body.

You don’t need to be “in shape” to start

Most of our senior clients came to us exactly where you are right now.

  • You’re returning to exercise after years — or decades — away
  • You’ve finished (or are wrapping up) physical therapy and need a safe next step
  • You live with arthritis, osteoporosis, or a hip or knee replacement
  • You’ve noticed your balance slipping and want to get ahead of a fall
  • You’ve never touched a weight and want a patient, judgment-free start
  • Your doctor told you to start strength training and you’re not sure where to begin

Senior training built around real life

What we focus on

  • Fall prevention: Balance and proprioception work that measurably lowers injury risk
  • Functional strength: Sit-to-stands, loaded carries, and step work — the exact movements you do at home
  • Joint-friendly progression: No jumping, no boot-camp. We work around arthritis, replacements, and past injuries
  • Personalized coaching: A certified coach who knows your history, tracks your wins, and adjusts week to week
  • Doctor & PT coordination: We respect medical restrictions and build from where physical therapy left off

Your coach

Our coaches are ACE, NASM, and PPSC certified (Postural Restoration Specialist) — so we understand injury prevention, joint mechanics, and how to scale intensity safely. We’ve coached East Bay seniors since 2018, and owner Liam is a NASM-certified trainer and Marine Corps veteran who builds every program around patience and progress, never ego.

Accessible, safe, and genuinely welcoming

Getting started should feel easy and reassuring — from the moment you arrive to every rep you do with us. Our studio is ADA-friendly and built around your comfort.

Easy, step-free entry

An ADA-friendly space with step-free access and accessible parking right outside — easy to get in and out, no stairs to manage.

CPR & first-aid certified

Every coach is current on CPR and first-aid, so you’re in trained, attentive hands for the entire session.

Always one-on-one

You’re never left alone on the floor. A coach stays beside you for every movement, watching your form and keeping you safe.

We work around your body

Arthritis, osteoporosis, replacements, past injuries — we adapt every exercise and never push into pain.

Bring someone you trust

A spouse, friend, or adult child is always welcome to come along, join in, or simply sit in — whatever helps you feel at ease.

In step with your doctor

We coordinate with your physician or physical therapist and respect every restriction they’ve given you.

Your first month, step by step

No mystery, no pressure. Here’s exactly what to expect from day one.

1

Free intro & assessment

We talk through your history, goals, and any medical restrictions, then run a gentle movement screen. No obligation, no upsell.

2

Your first sessions

You learn the core movements with hands-on coaching on every rep. We start light and prioritize confidence over intensity.

3

Week-to-week progress

We track your wins and add load or complexity only when you’re ready. You feel it getting easier — that’s the point.

4

We coordinate your care

If you have a doctor or PT, we work with their notes and restrictions so everyone’s on the same page.

What our clients say

★★★★★

Personal training with Liam at Impact Fitness was exactly what I needed after taking time off to heal from a back injury. Liam knows his stuff, keeps things interesting, and actually cares about your progress.

Thanks to his focus on functional strength, injury prevention, and proper form, I am the strongest I have ever been. He puts the personal in personal training — switches exercises if something is causing pain.

Frequently asked questions

Is strength training safe if I’m over 65 or haven’t exercised in years? +

Yes — it’s one of the best things you can do for fall prevention and independence. We start with a movement assessment, coach every rep on form, and build load gradually. Most clients feel steadier on their feet within the first month.

What does a senior session actually look like? +

Mostly standing and seated strength, balance work, and mobility — no jumping, no boot-camp. Think sit-to-stands, supported squats, light carries, and step work that carries straight over into daily life.

Is your studio accessible? I have trouble with stairs. +

Yes. We’re an ADA-friendly space with step-free entry and accessible parking right outside, so getting in and out is easy. If you have specific access needs, let us know when you book and we’ll make sure everything is ready for you.

I have arthritis or a replaced hip. Can you still train me? +

In most cases, yes. We work around it, not into pain, and coordinate with what your doctor or physical therapist has told you. Bring any restrictions to your free intro and we’ll plan from there.

Can my spouse or adult child come with me? +

Absolutely. A spouse, friend, or adult child is always welcome to join in or sit in — especially for your first visit. Many of our clients find it reassuring, and we’re happy to keep family in the loop on progress.

How often should I train to see results? +

Most senior clients train one to two times per week, and that’s plenty to build real strength and balance. Consistency matters far more than intensity — we’d rather you show up steadily than burn out.

How do I get to your studio from Berkeley? +

We’re at 985 3rd St in Oakland’s Jack London district — a straight shot down San Pablo or via I-80, about 15 minutes from most of Berkeley, with easy street parking right outside. Use the map above for live directions and your ETA.

What’s the cost, and can I use my HSA/FSA? +

Your first session is always free — no obligation, no upsell. We discuss pricing once you’ve met a coach and we know your goals. And yes, HSA and FSA funds are accepted.

What should I wear and bring to my first session? +

Comfortable clothes you can move in and supportive shoes — that’s it. Bring any medical restrictions or notes from your doctor or PT, plus water. We’ll handle the rest.
